The story of the Founder of TIME INTERNATIONAL & ASEANAFFAIRS.In
Feb 2000, Roy nearly lost his life from a fatal accident in India. Five
surgeries over the next five years led to his recovery.
Prior to that he had served in the Indian corporate world for over 8
years and at age 31, he was laid up in bed with a shattered leg because
of the accident.
His fighting spirit not only led him to physical recovery but he went on to become an international businessman in four years.
Swarup Roy is also the Founder and CEO of ASEANAFFAIRS, The first and only global publication of Southeast Asia.
ASEANAFFAIRS
aims to represent the views and aspirations of the 10-nation
Association of Southeast Asian Nations, to be a window on the widely
diversified region of more than 500 million people, and to be a bridge
linking Asean to the world and vice versa.
From 2002 till 2006 Roy was the President of Business Day, Thailand’s
only English language daily business newspaper. It was during this time
he discovered the need for an independent media dedicated to Asean
(Southeast Asia) for there was none. His strong interest in the region
led him to focus on Asean, Committing all his resources to set up ASEANAFFAIRS, , first the online information portal followed by the print edition. Now in its fifth year of publication, Google ranks the daily online edition of www.aseanaffairs.com
No.1 under the News & Media category of Southeast Asia ahead of
CNN.com/Southeast Asia. The bi monthly print magazine (Asia and Americas
editions) has reached more than 30 countries in distribution. In Europe
the magazine is being distributed by SAARBACH (part of the Bertelsmann
Group of Germany) in more than 20 countries of the European Union.The launch of the European edition of ASEANAFFAIRS is being planned very soon with SAARBACH in Germany.

aim to bring the stakeholders and participants on a common platform to
interact and find solutions to the challenges facing Southeast Asia/Asia
along with its major trading partners such as the European Union, USA,

Roy has
more than 15years of corporate and management experience. He started his
career in 1993 with one of India’s leading MNC’s Shaw Wallace & Co;
Ltd. He was born in India and has a bachelor’s degree in physics and an M.B.A (Gold
Medalist) from Chennai University. His hobbies are playing golf and
reading.
